I realized I was having difficulty sticking to my task list…because I had never made a plan. The Planning The Night Before challenge was to get me past that difficulty.
The Challenge
The challenge was to make my plan for the next day in my bullet journal the night before. The thought was that even having written list – even if I didn’t look at it again until late in the next day – would help keep me on track.
Lessons Learned
- This is harder than it seemed. There were many nights that I hauled myself out of bed to do this.
- It wasn’t my best 30 days. I missed about half of the days on this challenge. I was left wondering why, when it really did give me such a leg up on the next day.
- Next day at breakfast was default. I often ended up doing the planning after I ate breakfast. While this wasn’t what I set out to do, it still gave me the desired results.
- I still struggle with putting too much on my lists. As hard as I have fought it, I am going to have to take a serious look at time management and estimation to keep from overwhelming myself.
Conclusion
This was a good exercise, and while it wasn’t enough to establish the habit, I will continue to work on it.
